Z-Line Training uses a proven system of orthotic fitting that we feel is far superior to other approaches. Most orthoses are fitted with the foot (subtalar joint) placed in a “neutral” position. The thought being this is where the foot should spend most of its time. Unfortunately, most foot orthoses will collapse past neutral due to the loading of the foot (approximately 3.5x body weight with each step while walking) and therefore will not control the foot adequately.
Two simple tests will help you determine whether your current orthoses is suitable to fix your foot mechanics:
Press down on the arch support of your orthoses. If you can partially collapse it with your fingers, it probably isn’t offering you enough support to correct foot mechanics while walking. Remember up to 3.5x your body weight is passing through the foot with each step.
Take your foot orthoses out of your shoes and stand on them. Now lift your heel off the ground as if you are walking. Lift the heel portion of your orthoses up to your heel. Is there a gap between your arch and the orthoses? If so it is likely your shoe inserts are not controlling your arch through the entire stance phase of gait.
Z-Line Training uses the Sole Supports system which guarantees these problems won’t occur. Our system is used by the Denver Broncos and many other professional athletes. We believe it is superior to most if not all orthoses because the foot is casted in an ideal foot strike pattern that is used while walking. Therefore the foot orthoses fit your feet perfectly and offer optimal control through the entire stance phase of gait.
